Besona international school was founded in 1995 by PST. Mrs Mercy Dangana. The school was known as Besona Nursery & Primary school. Later the school changed her name to Besona Educational Centre .
In September 2006, the school established the secondary department with about 12 academic staff teaching the Junior Secondary.
The secondary department got her officially approval from the Rivers state Government in 2016, by this approval, the secondary department has been sitting for every national examination like Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by NECO & WAEC respectively.
